It was high drama at Titwood last Saturday as Hillhead Men's 1's went through to the semi-final of the Scottish Cup after defeating Clydesdale Men's 1's on PF's. The first half was all Clydesdale as the HHC boys struggled to get out of their own half, but the 'Dale just couldn't get those goals they desperately needed. Second half and Hillhead were right back in it (albeit Clydesdale still had a fair bit of the pressure) with some great counter-attacking hockey - and it paid off with two quick goals in succession; the first from Alan Meikle after a well worked move, and the second from the penalty corner and captain Andrew Hilton.
However, it was end to end stuff, and the 'Dale boys pulled one back from a Ciaran Crawford short corner - and then with barely three minutes on the clock they got their second and the equaliser! Final score in normal time 2-2. And then it was PF's - they can go any way. And last Saturday it was Hillhead's day, as they calmly - or as calmly as they could - slotted away one more PF better than the boys from Clydesdale. Well done the Hillhead lads - tough luck on the Clydesdale men.
