Edinburgh University give it everything, but Grange remain as strong and consistent as ever.
Strength in depth, that's Grange hockey club. Like 'em or loathe 'em, they've got quality players throughout their teams - and that shone through once again, as three of their sides won this weekend at Glasgow Green.
Scottish Cup holders, Grange 1's, went into this match definite favourites against a Edinburgh University side full of enthusiasm and lots of individual talent - and for the first 20 minutes or so it was all pretty close at both ends, including a brilliant penalty stroke save and a couple of penalty corner stops by university keeper, Jakim Bernsden, who was in top form.
But then the goals started coming from Grange. They only got one in the first half, thanks to Todd Harmsworth; but, in the second half they added four more to their tally with goals from Cameron Fraser, Harmsworth for his second, Callum Milne, and then Harmsworth again for his hat-trick.
Edinburgh University's Jamie Wong scored a consolation goal just before the final whistle, but it was absolutely no consolation at all, for him or his fellow players, as they lined up looking visibly disappointed to receive their runners-up medals.
FINAL SCORE: Grange 1's 5 Edinburgh University 1's 1
